GTA 6 Server Whitelisting
Your server whitelist is where your culture gets set before anyone joins. Good whitelists filter for the players you actually want. Bad whitelists either let in trolls... or scare off your good players by being too overbearing. Learn how to find the balance.
What the whitelist actually does
- Keeps rule-breakers and trolls out.
- Filters for players who know how to roleplay (or whatever your server specialises in).
- Sets expectations before they join: a well-thought-out app signals a well-thought-out server.
- Provides your staff with a record if an issue crops up down the line.
A good application structure
- Discord identity. Applicants connect their Discord account. Mandatory.
- Rule acknowledgement. 2-4 questions about the basic rules. If they can't answer them, they didn't read the rules.
- Character concept. Concise backstory: 2 to 4 paragraphs. You learn more here than anywhere else.
- Scenario response. 2 brief in-character scenarios to see if they can roleplay at all.
- Experience. Past servers. Past bans. Be upfront that you want to know the answer.
What to avoid
- 30-question application forms. Nobody will get through them.
- Requiring video interviews for basic whitelist. Save those for higher positions.
- Slow response times. Taking 7 days to review kills enthusiasm. 48 hours is better.
- Auto-accepting with no review. Why even have a filter then?
Review workflow
- Require at least two reviewers per application.
- A standard rubric so reviewers score consistently.
- Allow a veto from any reviewer if there are glaring red flags.
- Give feedback when you reject someone. "Revise your character concept with a more specific backstory" is better than a blunt no.
- Automatic Discord role change upon acceptance, with a message sent to the applicant and staff.
Red flags to watch for
- Character backstory that is only a paragraph long and generic.
- Past bans they don't mention.
- "I want to start RPing as a cop/mayor/crime boss on day one." Good roleplayers learn to crawl before they walk.
- Discord account is less than 30 days old and has no recorded activity.
- Copy-pasted answers. Responses repeat the same phrases between applicants.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a GTA 6 server whitelist?
A filter where players have to apply for access instead of freely joining. Employed by RP and serious competitive servers to keep out trolls and meet quality standards.
How long should a GTA 6 whitelist application take to review?
Less than 48 hours. After that, interest wanes. Assemble a reviewer rotation that processes applications every day in small batches.
What should a GTA 6 RP whitelist application ask?
Rule acknowledgement, a brief character concept (2-4 paragraphs), 2 IC scenarios, and previous server experience. Make it any longer than that and people quit before finishing.
