What dedicated actually means

A physical machine with the CPU, RAM, storage and NIC all dedicated to you. No other tenants. Never oversubscribed. No noisy neighbours.

With good hosts, this will get you full advertised throughput. With bad hosts, you just pay more for the same lack of performance.

When dedicated is the right call

• A steady 96+ concurrent players.
• Competitive, racing, or drift servers where tick rate matters.
• Heavily modded servers running large asset libraries.
• Servers hosting other services (voice, web, database) on the same physical box.
• Servers that are frequently attacked (targeted DDoS attacks need dedicated IP options).

When dedicated is overkill

• Under 64 concurrent players.
• Low-population RP communities still growing their player base.
• Servers running on a $30/month budget (the corners you cut elsewhere will hurt more).

Dedicated costs in 2026

• Entry level (Ryzen 5, 32 GB): $90-$140 per month.
• Mid-tier performance (Ryzen 9, 64 GB NVMe): $180-$280 per month.
• High end (Threadripper or Xeon, 128 GB, multiple NVMe): $400-$700 per month.

What to check before committing

1. Exact CPU model and clock speed.
2. Single-core benchmark scores, not just the core count.
3. NVMe generation and its IOPS numbers.
4. Network port speed and which peering providers they use.
5. Datacentre tier and region.
6. Hardware refresh schedule (a 4-year-old Ryzen 5 vs a brand-new Ryzen 5).
